What is a community foundation?
A community foundation is a tax exempt, nonprofit, autonomous, non sectarian, philanthropic institution with a long term goal of building permanent, named component funds established by many separate donors for the broad-based charitable benefit of the residents of a defined geographic area, typically, no larger than a state.
How can I get involved?
The Community Foundation of Pinecrest (CFP) is looking for people who care about the community and are willing to donate their time, talent and treasure to serve others and the community as a whole. Call the CFP office at (305) 968-3090 to get on a mailing list for events and to speak to us about your level of participation.
How do you decide on programs to support?
CFP has been surveying the community, both its residents and businesses, for ideas on programs that will make a positive impact on our Village.
Where do you receive your funding?
Community foundations receive funding from individuals, small businesses, larger corporations, private foundations and ,sometimes, other non profits as they collaborate on programs.
Are you an arm of the Village of Pinecrest?
No. While the CFP initially spun off the Pinecrest Foundation that was directed by the Village Council, the by-laws have been amended and the CFP is now a totally separate non profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
